America and the Bible
In 1791, Thomas Jefferson was quoted as saying, “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that His justice cannot sleep forever.” George Washington made this statement, “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”
On a day where America was caught off guard by 19 Islamic terrorists who launched an Islamic Jihad on this country, the question went through many minds and hearts, ‘Why did God allow this horrific tragedy…where was God?’ The answer is simple. The surprise attack on America did not catch God off guard. In fact, the hijackers/terrorists were ‘almost’ found out. As for God’s protective hand on America that eventful day, it was no doubt lifted. It was a wake-up call to a nation that continues to spurn and ignore the God of the Bible who has blessed the nation of America like none other
History has revealed to us that those nations who turn from their God-given purpose and spurn the moral principles and spiritual laws that God has placed within them, in due time, come to ruin. America is no different.
There can be no question that America is on a moral decline. To her enemies, America is seen as insincere and unethical as it proclaims to be a Christian nation declaring ‘In God We Trust.” Violence has grown in the United States, as have pornography, murders, illegal drug use, theft, an increasing divorce rate, gay rights and abortion. The entertainment industry is no longer entertaining. It feeds on pumping out violence, sexual immorality, perversion and a a concentrated focus on the occult polluting and perverting the whole of society that calls evil good and good evil.
The moral fibre of America is unraveling at an astonishing pace. Few are concerned with the pursuit of righteous living and morality in keeping and holding this nation together, but having as its focus increased pleasure with goals set on greed and materialism. Even within the Church we see a ‘form of godliness, but a denial of its power.’ Within the Court system, who are ordained by God to preserve and administer justice ‘So help me God’, continue to rule out the moral code and spiritual laws that keeps its citizens intact as a nation. While America professes God, its courts and lawmakers are making every attempt to rewrite its laws that call for freedom from religion, not freedom of religion. When such perversion begins to erode and weaken the backbone of this nation, or any nation for that matter, diluting its values with a concentrated effort to eradicate Almighty God from its society…you can be assured that the righteous wrath and indignation of Almighty God is not far off.
As America is falling from its world prominence we see the enemy of terrorism having America in daily fear. In a troubled uncertain world, when America needs God’s protection and favor more than ever before, it has been blinded by its unconfessed transgressions and overwhelming pride. With America losing its God-ordained purpose to fulfill in the world, we are seeing its faith and confidence erode as it continues to turn away from God. Here lies the danger of any nation that has experienced the blessings of God and is called to be ‘salt & light.’
In the Book of Leviticus it gives us this sobering reality, ” I will break the pride of your power.” May-be that is why we see America being humiliated by its enemies, especially radical Islamic fundamentalist and other rouge Islamic and God defying nations, such as Russia, now a great ally of Iran and its nuclear program.
Is God truly on our side? If we desire for God to be on our side, it will take an individual and national repentance in turning back to the true God of the Bible for our answers…the same God that our forefathers sought in prayer for His guidance and protection and were not disappointed as they experienced His blessings and prosperity of soul. America will eventually come to its day of great disappointment if we do not recognize our appointed time and God-given purpose in returning to god, our only source of protection, mercy, forgiveness and victory as individuals and a nation.
“If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (Chronicles 7:14). KJV
