Iran

The modern nation of Iran had its beginnings in 1921. On February 21, 1921, a man by the name of Reza Khan led the Cossak Brigade. He brought his Cossak Division into Tehran and two years later was installed as the new Shah. He focused on modernization and industrialization. The name was changed from Persia (land of Para) to Iran in 1935.

Forty years later several facts converged that made the country ripe for a revolution. In 1979 the Ayatollah Khomeini, spiritual leader and founder of Iran’s Islamic Republic, overthrew the pro-Western Shah of Iran and brought Iran under the control of Islamic fundamentalism. Khomeini despised the West and sought to purge Iran of all Western influence. He opposed the United States of America referring to it as ‘The Great Satan”. Iran has since become a fundamentalist, radical Islamic nation with its mind set on jihad, or holy war against all non-Muslims infidels. Iran is the only hard-line Shiite nation in the world. With 90% of Muslims worldwide being Sunni, Iran is the only Muslim nation that has Shiite Islam as its state religion.

On August 3, 2005. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took office as the sixth president of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He is a revolutionary firebrand. A hard-line Shiite Muslim, he calls himself a fundamentalist. He was an officer of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard. It is believed that during the 1979 American hostage taking that held sixty-six Americans hostages for 444 days, that Ahmadinejad was one of the leaders that personally conducted interrogations of the U.S. hostages. The 300 Islamic students, loyalists to Ayatollah Khomeini who overran the U.S. Embassy, it is believed that Ahmadinejad was one of those loyalists.

As president of the Islamic Republic of Iran he enjoys the support of the Basij, which is a ten million strong militia that guards Islamic revolutionary values. He has threatened to unleash 40,000 volunteer suicide bombers against U.S. interests and any nations that co-operates with the U.S. if it hits Iran’s nuclear facilities (8 in all). His statements toward Israel and the U.S. is nothing short of venomous, while his rhetoric about nuclear weapons is certainly troubling. “It is possible for us to witness a world without America and Zionsim…This regime (Israel) that is occupying Jerusalem must be wiped off the map.” The presidents troubling statements point to a nuclear showdown with Western powers. “We are in the process of a historical war between the World of Arrogance (the West) and the Islamic world.”

Iran directly supports terrorism reaffirming its commitment to Jihad. Iran has become Israel’s and America’s number one enemy. It’s military aid to terrorist’s is the major factor that is destabilizing the Middle East which in turn incites hatred, violence and the determination to exterminate Israel and gain a world-wide Islamic revolution. It is the only radical Muslim nation with the potential to produce a nuclear bomb that would kill literally millions. It’s nuclear program, with the aid of Russia, is at a point of no return.
