Understanding the Times

Our world today has entered into one of the most challenging ‘seasons’ of history. We are to be discerning of the times we are living in. Jesus told us what would be the signs of the times and the End of the Age. We have not been left in the dark. He told us that ‘there would be wars and rumors of wars. nations would rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there would be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven (Luke 21:9-11).

Although the signs Jesus spoke of have been present in every generation, Jesus described the end times as having birth pains, the characteristics that will increase in frequency and intensity as the end of the age draws near (Matthew 24:8). He spoke of those signs  we are to be looking for. He also warned  the world, “Take heed that no one deceive you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many” (Matthew 24:4,5). As many have come in His name with the intentions to undermine, deceive and pervert the truth of who He is and the salvation that He has brought to a world in need of His love, mercy and forgiveness (John 3:16).

One of the greatest religious ‘holy wars’ waged against the infallible Word of God, the Holy Bible, has been the growth and opposition from the religion of Islam. Although Islam claims they believe in Moses and Jesus making them a perfect and tolerant religion, it is a superficial belief. Islam makes Jesus christ out to be a prophet of Islam undermining His deity, death and resurrection from the grave and being God’s only begotten Son who is the Rightful Ruler of the Universe.

Islam was founded 600 years after the birth of Christianity and Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, and thousands of years after the Torah (Jewish Old Testament). While Islam has taken parts of the Bible and scripture, they suggest the Bible is full of lies and the Jews have stolen the promises in claiming Jerusalem for themselves. Hence the hotbed of conflict. Islamic clerics, being \revisionist historians have tried to recreate Muhammad’s account to fit their theology while radical Islamic fundamentalists lay claim to the right to fight against all non-Muslims through in own interpretation of the Koran. Moderate however keep quiet not denying what the Koran plainly says about all non-Muslims who are the infidels.

There has been a great fundamentalist revival that has swept across the Islamic world, especially in Arab lands, in recent years. It insists that all human beings must submit to the will of Muhammad’s god, Allah, and that believers must make war on those who don’t share their beliefs. It was that thinking that brought about the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001. The intensity of the jihads (holy war) against non-Muslims has intensified all the more as a result of the birth of Israel as a nation in 1948. It is this very ideology that continues to destabilize not only the Middle East, but the world.

The rise of militant Islam is setting the stage for the end times in two key ways: 1) It contributes to world wide instability as it pushes the world towards globalism even faster than its already accelerating pace. Globalism is necessary for the worldwide rule of the Antichrist predicted in Revelation 13. And 2) The meteoric rise of radical Islam is also setting the stage for the massive end times invasion of Israel predicted by the Old Testament prophet, Ezekiel, 2,600 years ago (see Ezekiel 38 & 39). The alliance of nations appear to be forming before our very eyes.

With nations such as the Revolutionary Government of Iran, a nation who’s hard-line Shiite Muslim president has said, ” We are in the process of a historical war between the World of Arrogance (the West) and the Islamic world”, has has gone on to declare that Israel must be wiped off the map. With over 25 per cent of the Bible being devoted to prophecy, all Bible prophecy revolves around the nation of  Israel. And, with the rapid growth of Islam, now reaching over 1.5 billion and gaining cultural ground worldwide, almost 10% are Islamic radicals. With an agenda for world domination in fulfilling the will of Allah, and with the objective of  bringing the world under the law of Islam , this and many other factors are beginning to ring true of what has been foretold in the Bible.

With every Bible prophecy fulfilled thus far, and now with latter prophecies lining up to what now looms on the horizon, after the restoration of the nation of Israel, it is clear to see what is unfolding in light of the perilous times we find ourselves living in.

We find in the Book of Daniel the prophet was given a ‘telescope’ in which he saw through time the progression of world empires rising and falling, and finally the disintegration of civilization. The Book of Revelation tells us there would be instant communication (), the Book of Daniel tells us there would be an explosion of knowledge (Daniel 12:14) while Jesus told us of the wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, famines(Matthew 24:4-39)…but the key prophetic scripture that would signal the terminal generation is found in the Book of Zechariah (14:12-15).

The Bible makes it clear and time has unfolded and confirmed Zechariah’s prophecy. There would be a plaque in the Middle East as Jerusalem would be a burdensome stone for all nations (Zechariah 12:2). There would be the rebirth of the nation of Israel (Isaiah 66:8) while the Jews would return from their homeland (Jeremiah 23:7-8). The Bible always tells us Jerusalem would no longer be under Gentile control (Luke 21:24). These prophetic prophecies have all been fulfilled  concerning Israel in the latter days. Those prophecies yet to be fulfilled are seen in Ezekiel 38 & 39 and will bring the final conclusion to the End of the Age and Jesus’ return to earth.

The Bible clearly and unmistakably tells us what we can expect in the end times and how those events will be played out. God has not left anyone in the dark but has revealed through His timeless and unchanging Word what we can expect in the last days. He is also ‘not willing for one precious soul to perish’ (2 Peter 3:9) but for all to come to repentance in their knowledge of  His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus told the truth about judgment. He warned the people to flee the wrath to come. If you believe a warning and act on it , it can save your life. If you find yourself at odds with the Rightful Ruler of this universe, who loved you enough to send His only begotten Son (John 3:16) as a payment for the penalty of your sins know that Jesus Christ, stands ready with open arms for you to receive forgiveness and cleansing from those sins that have disqualified you from God’s best, here and for an eternity.

In the midst of trouble, terrorism and war, God’s offer of peace, mercy and total forgiveness can be yours. Just say this simple prayer from your heart, knowing that God hears and will acknowledge and answer the cry of your heart as you invite Him into your heart. ” Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and have gone my own way. I have missed the best you have planned fro my life, with the certainty of eternal life through trusting in You. I believe that You died in my place taking my sins upon Yourself. I ask you to forgive me of those sins, and wash me in Your shed blood, knowing that Your sacrifice puts me in right standing with You. I confess You as Lord and Savior of my Life from this day on.  Thank- you for dying for me and saving me. Amen!
